I recently signed up for the roots every 6 weeks membership. I really like the fact that it is a place that specializes in just hair coloring. Also, it is super convenient for me because it is right down the street and the schedule has a lot of flexibility. I do however wish they would do something about the sinks. The area where you rest your neck while getting your color rinsed out, moves and is very uncomfortable on my neck. Everything else is great except for this and it has been a problem from day one. I have been going to this store for 18+ months. My colorist today said 2 thing to me. 1) was I good with my current color, and 2) did I want anything to drink. The first question was asked when I sat down, the second after she finished coloring my roots. Literally not a single word while she colored my hair! I said yes to both questions, while I got the correct color I never did get anything to drink despite my asking for water. WATER! The two stars are for how nice the staff was, but I can't give more than that. I went to get my roots done, something I've done multiple times at my usual Madison Reed location in Somerville. The colorist made a big deal about cleaning the dye off my hairline/skin, which I was happy about. It wasn't until after my color had been rinsed and I was told I was free to go that I saw how much dye was all over my hairline and ears - way more than I'd ever seen when I got my roots done at the Somerville location. Nice young man who worked the wash station. He brought me water and a smock. I have kinky ethnic naturally curly hair. I was instantly berated, humiliated and asked why I did not "brush my hair out" The stylist then screamed at me to brush my hair and stated I cannot as it is curly. She then proceeded to state she "had never heard of this; and for my scalp health I needed to brush my hair". She said this in front of salon. Extremely rude employee, basically yelled at me when I was picking color. Very condescending. I was going to book an appointment for hair color but never coming back here! Stay away!

Wow. Absolute garbage; I feel sorry for the people who work there and probably have some natural talent as colorists. The staff all seemed kind, yet clearly oblivious. So, yes, full disclosure. I was stupid enough to pay $95 for a "single process" of a home hair coloring system, that is no better than what you'd receive if you bought the most generic box of trash from Walmart. In follow up to my initial review of the service I received on my visit the store asks me to leave my email info which I did and no contact made since that initial review goes to show you they don't care for ANY customers if they don't bother to contact the person ...awful customer service guess it shows from the top
