Great printer for the price Printed hundreds of sheets without a hitch

A good machine Now that I have the MFC-J491DW connected I like it fine. However, getting it connected to my computer and getting it working was a bear. Part of the reason was that Brothers don't have a driver for MAC OS Big Sur. The tech people were almost useless - I had to call 4 times (with long wait time for each). I have an earlier MCF-J__DW and liked it. That's why I got the new MFC-J491DW. When I got the old one, I had it up and working in a few minutes. The new one took me most of the day. Brother Quality Purchased the unit to replace another manufacturers product that was ineffective the day it came out of the box. The Brother's unit was simple to set up to the home network. It was worked flawlessly during it's limited use at the time of this review. Overall, the platform works for our home needs.

Sub par printer I have had other brother printers that I would have rated 5 stars, but this one is a disappointment. Not up standard for me.
Good printer, but they're predatory with their ink cartridges. I like the quality of the print, but i just had a frustrating experience with a low ink error on one of the color cartridges, which means that the printer WILL NOT PRINT, even in black and white. They have instructions online showing how you can get B&W to work with this, but I've tried them on Windows and MacOS and they do not work. Reliable and Good Quality Copies, BUT Slow Seen a few reviews complaining about ink usage, even when not in use as a "maintenance" thing. EASY SOLUTION....turn it OFF when not in use. Problem solved. I'm still on my first set of cartridges after over a year of use. This printer has operated picture perfectly. The downside is you need to have the patience of a saint, as my tax return I printed took 2.5 minutes per page. I went and did something else while printing.
