This used to be a great place.. It drew from all over Long Island as well as local. It has turned from a great place to dine into a boring bar scene with abrupt rude wait staff. We took people from out of town there as we have done many times in the past. We were embarrassed. Food was good but the menu has changed dramatically. It is very limited, We've lost a local gem that occupied a lovely historic site.
Aways a great meal and menu makes this one of our standards! Thanks Chef Guy!

Food isn't as remarkable as it was when it first opened. Service is inattentive. We came on a Saturday night at 7 pm and it wasn't full yet. Yet, we waited so long to order we had to grab someone else and ask, and still waited a while longer with no apology. Not really even sure he was a waiter and not a manager - it was odd. Although I was a fan of Mirabelle Restaurant, I had been reluctant to try the Tavern when the majority of choices where in the burgers and fish and chips category. The addition of a Spring prix fixe menu is a real plus. I enjoyed the crab salad, salamon and their signature ginger tart with a glass of pinot grigio. The other member of the group was extremely pleased with the seared scallops and creme brulee. The restaurant was quiet and encouraging to relaxed conversation.
Beautiful, picturesque, place for a romantic dinner then a stroll on the beach.must mention excellent musician.
Service much improved, and that was the sole sticking point from past visits. Keep it up!
This was our 2nd visit and again, wonderful service, food and drink. We plan to come back many times!
