Ms ******'s service started on Friday 1/29/16 and she called on 1/30/16 to cancel service stating that she only needed service temporarily. Ms ****** was advised by the customer service representative that the earliest date that service could be canceled would be the following Monday 2/1/15. This is because the transmission utility in her area, AEP Texas Central does not work these orders on the weekends. Ms ****** was unreceptive to these facts and asked to speak to a supervisor who confirmed the process. While it is understandable that a customer can become frustrated when needing funds back as soon as possible there are instances in which refunds cannot be expedited due to timelines set by the Public Utilities Commission. The State allows AEP Central and all other transmission utilities to forego weekend "move out orders". There is not a single deregulated retail electric provider that can close accounts on Saturday or Sunday because of this reason. In situations where a move out is requested on on a non operational day it will be worked the following business day per state guidelines. In this case this will be Monday 2/1/16. Once this occurs we will wait for the final meter read to be be received (typically the following day)and then the final invoice will be calculated. At that time the customer is eligible for their remaining funds to be refunded. In this case Ms ****** made a cash payment which is a longer process because a check will have to be cut and mailed. A credit/debit card payment can be refunded as soon as the final invoice is approved and in most situations the customer will see the funds back on their card the following business day. Payless Power was in no way negligent in this incident. The customer's refund check will be calculated as soon as the final invoiced is created and then mailed within a reasonable turnaround time.
