I have used Red Rhino Leak Detection and Repair for my pool. The most common area that older pools leak is around the skimmer. Have you tried not refilling after you notice it is low for 24hrs? Turn off your pump so it does not tun during this time and see if the pool stops losing water. That will tell you that your leak is up high near your usual water level. It is ok to not run your pool for 24 hrs. If your chemical levels are in range.
