Avoid tax preparer. I’ve had multiple issues and they never step in to assist with the resolution. I’ve only been bounced around to different service agents.
This is our last year using RG Brenner. After 20 years , their fees have skyrocketed. It's NOT the tax preparers fault. Who ever decided to raise the fees, main office, for each form is to blame. A simple tax prep for my son was OVER $300. fed and state. Not acceptable. He will be taking his business elsewhere. Maybe they added a COVID fee? Start paying attention to their fees and you will see what I mean.

Business practices. This year amid a pandemic R&G Brenner increased the amount of the cost of the preparation of tax returns by almost $200. I was not informed not even before beginning the tax consult. The shock came at the end. Very bad business practice.

The insinuation that your fee was raised in any way related to the Coronavirus outbreak is beyond insulting; especially in light of the staff of this office risking their own personal health to provide a service to you. Let me start off by saying I’ve been having my taxes done by Linda for years I am a 78-year-old senior citizen and I just love Linda the way she took care of me and my taxes. As for R&G Brenner they will be not getting my business anymore They raise their fee over 1000% I had to negotiate to get it down to 400%
Your price increase this year is too steep for a retired couple doing a short form. Although we have been using R&G Brenner for quite sometime, We’ll be forced to look for someone else to prepare our tax return next season.

Dear Mr. Skidmore. R&G Brenner's fees are determined by the forms used to complete your tax return, not based on your refund amount. Our minimum fee for services is promotional rate of $149. You fee was $160 and you also received over a $100 discount.
They charge the price up a lot even just a simple form I have been charge for $285 on my income tax return this year the last year was $200 the year before was $180

I have had my taxes prepared by Linda over the past 7 years. She is professional and knows the business well. She has always done an excellent job. This year the only regret I have is that R&G informed me, and others while on site preparing the taxes that the payment structure for the work was not a flat rate. This rate was calculated by their upper management, and seemed to be a negotiable fee in some cases. This is a highly offensive way of doing business especially with repeat customers. Dear Ms. Morend, thank you for your comments. R&G Brenner's pricing has always been determined by the form value of the tax return. There has been no change in our policy. Our form price listing is posted in all our offices and is itemized on your tax return. The only difference is that in the past, preparers had broad latitude to reduce fees below the minimum form value. This year, they do not have as much leeway. Your 2019 tax return required 9 forms.
