I did a lot of research on spine surgeons in the LA area and collected a number of recommendations before choosing Dr. Melikian. You're probably doing the same thing right now, so I want to help you out: you won't find a better doctor. Full stop. He is highly skilled, experienced, has an excellent track record, and he's a fantastic human being. This was my first visit with Dr. Melikian. What an amazing and genuinely concerned person. I was able to ask all the necessary questions and didn't feel rushed at all. His staff was just as wonderful as he was.........stems from the top. Been a long time since I have received this type of service in the medical field. Dr M and his staff are the absolute best in the business!! I was referred to him by a friend who had the same C5-C6 disc replacement surgery. I was up walking the same day and walking and moving immediately. My pain level was minimal and did not need pain meds after first day. The surgical center in MDR was like a 5 star resort! This surgery went way better than I even hoped it would be!
Dr. Melikian and the entire staff in his office and the DISC Surgical Center were exceptional and caring professionals who made this a good experience. Dr. Melikian took the time in his office we needed to go over my condition and explain his recommendation. After the surgery the sciatica pain was relieved leaving me with a mild lower back ache which should be better in a couple more weeks (I'm 10 days post-surgery at this writing).
Dr. Malikian is really a great, great doctor. He performed a micro compresson of my level 3-4 to treat stenosis and within a day the pain in my legs had all but disappeared (other than some stiffness). I was able to walk an hour a day within a week with no pain and within five weeks was running with my grandchildren. He was attentive to my needs, returned calls promptly and his staff was incredibly helpful in setting up the surgery. DISC's operating room was amazingly professional with first rate-nurses. Writing a review for Dr. Melikian is an easy task. He is simply a good Doctor that cares about your issue. You will be aware of this the first time you meet him. Notice, he actually listens. He cares about your thoughts and will tell you the truth about your options. I reached 68, and for the most part in pretty good condition. The back surgery he did on me insures I will carry on. Dr. Melikian changed my life. The procedure I had is called a Single Level Fusion at the L5-S1 level, and the approach used is called an ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion). I had the procedure at the end of March in 2022. The procedure was an incredible success for me and I feel like I have my life back. Reading up on the procedure itself can be scary as what they call "minimally invasive" sure doesn't sound like it is. It is impossible to overstate how much Dr. Melikian and his staff have improved my quality of life! I had long suffered from lower back pain that culminated with agonizing right leg pain.
