My father lives in Serenades. Everything about this place is great. The staff is always willing to go out of their way to help. We are very pleased with everything.

The Jewish Pavilion is an outreach organization that seeks to enhance the lives of residents and their families in over 50 senior living communities. The non-profit provides sabbath and holiday celebrations, musicales, ice cream socials, intergenerational festivities and more. Serenades by Sonata in Longwood is one of our favorite buildings. My father had the pleasure of living at Serenades by Sonata for two years. He was well cared for by a loving staff that he called his family. He thoroughly enjoyed the interior courtyard, going for walks several times a day to smell the flowers, watch the butterflies and clouds, and enjoy the sunshine. He also enjoyed the top notch activity program which kept his mind challenged and encouraged social interaction. His favorites included SongBirds, therapy dogs, and activities on the IPad. Since my mom has moved into Serenades, I don't worry about anything. The girls are so kind and gentle. I believe they are Angels. The best decision we could have ever made. Thank you all!
Food awful. Did not clean rooms every day. Developed sores on both feet and bottom. Did not check diapers every 2 hours. Seldom checked. 90 percent of the time was put to bed with a dirty diaper on. Patients were left alone in common areas for over 30 minutes. Staff would fall asleep at their post or sit playing on their phones. Had to go to wound care facility because wounds became so infected. From there went to another facility where he was checked every 2 hours and room cleaned every day, food was much more healthy. Woul... read more
My first experience was seeing the director [name removed] whom I had to make greet me. She seems to be a little racist because she greeted the Caucasians with no problem. As we entered the dining area [name removed] went directly to the serving area and preceded to go in the pots and take food out without washing her hands. I wouldn't dare have my mother stay here because of this woman actions and disrespectful. The place is very nice but the staff are scary especially the upper staff.
If your love one has Dementia with agitation at times , the staff is not capable of handling them !!! They are suppose to be a Memory Unit specializing in Dementia but that is false!!! They just want the patients to be calm and passive. One staff tells you one thing and the other one tell you a different story. Never judge a book by it's cover!
During my father's time at this facility, he had scabies twice . He also developed a MRSA infection that was the size of a grapefruit before I was notified or treatment was initiated. His fingernails grew so long he scratched himself until he was bleeding several times. I received several calls from the facility where the person calling me did not know my father and told me they were calling regarding my mother. My father has been at another facility for several weeks now and is doing much better.
