I would highly recommend Dr. Sangal! He is kind and compassionate. He takes the time to listen and answer all of your questions. He is extremely knowledgeable and I am very pleased with the care that we receive when we are in his office.
Dr. Sangal goes down as the worst doctor I have ever seen. I went in to address attention deficit problems and he insisted that I had sleep apnea. When I tested via the overnight study, I was borderline for apnea. At the same time, I was being woken up nightly by my husband's sleep apnea. At every visit, the doctor insisted that I needed to lose weight. When I finally pushed him for how much weight I needed to lose, he said, "5 lbs." He never addressed my attention problem. Biggest waste of my time and money.
I have seen Dr. Sandgal for a number of years now and it seems he has lost his way. He is more concerned with volume of patients than helping patients. I bring up an issue and he ignores it rather than addressing it.
I think Dr. Sangal would be a strong provider for sleep apnea, but he is not for Idiopathic Hypersomnia. He refused to consider the only FDA approved drug for treatment and wanted to combine multiple stimulants? It wasn’t right. His methods were outdated and not practical or realistic towards my recovery. I’ve been diagnosed my three separate doctors, one of them a U of M doc and he wouldn’t admit my diagnosis was correct. It was all really weird. He also wanted to re-test me for my ADHD which was completely unrelated and on... read more
I would not recommend this office, especially the way they treat staff. I left my job of over 5 years for a change, paid $60 for CPR cert, luckily I did not buy 3 lab coats. I spent 2 mins meeting the doctor after being interviewed by Melissa (no personality). I worked there for 2.5 days training with one girl in the office, because no one stays there. There is no check in or check out staff. I was let got after 2 days and was told by Melissa that the state of MI doesn't require a reason, her nostrils were flaring. This offi... read more
Dr Sangal refused to adjust the air pressure setting unless I went for a third overnight sleep study. I had scheduled an appointment 6 weeks after receiving a new CPap machine, the setting was too low as I was tired and having multiple events hourly. This was after going thorough two sleep studies in their office, and been a cpap user over 10 years and needing to replace an old machine. The office has the ability to read the settings from the machine remotely and make adjustments, this office is trying to make money in studi... read more
Dr. Sangal doesn’t support the recent technology advances (APAP, electronic data collection from new machines) and is not very flexible regarding patient wants.
If you want to be treated for ADD here - DON'T BOTHER. Dr. Sangal will conclude that he MUST test for sleep apnea and schedule two home sleep tests that will cost you or your insurance company thousands of dollars. Although I did almost fall asleep waiting an hour and fifteen minutes to see Dr. Sangal- he spent maybe 10-15 minutes with me. He kept asking me about my sleep habits, patterns, etc, without much concern for my experiences with ADD. I kept trying to refocus him on that topic, but he was disinterested and the apnea... read more
Business response:
Patients who have attention deficit symptoms beginning as an adult usually do not have primary attention deficit. Their attention deficit is usually because of something else. Patients with high scores on the STOP-Bang instrument usually have sleep apnea. Treating sleep apnea often improves their attention deficit. Sometimes this is hard to explain to patients who just want a prescription for an enjoyable/addicting drug. We would rather do the right thing even if means an unhappy patient.
Competent Doctor but borderline unethical billing practices, he truly milks the system. Invalidated an at home study, mandated in house lab study. Then would not prescribe CPAP until follow up and then in lab fit test then another follow up. I believe I had 5 office visits with full co pays before I was prescribed. Talking to peers with same issues at different Docs had maybe 2 visits. Hold on to your wallet.
