The restaurant is airy and light with a great atmosphere it really suits the Adelphi building. They steaks are everything promised and the seafood just wonderful!. The staff are friendly and attentive whilst being discreet and not in your face. We have already booked our next dinner treat!
London is full of American style steak restaurants, but this promises to be by far the best. If you didn't know you would think you were in NYC. The American wine list is outstanding.
Perhaps better than the original! S&W brings their act to London, offering a welcome alternative to other fine options. The seafood is excellent. The hash browns and creamed spinach are addictive. The space is impressive (a couple of quid were spent on the place!). The dry-aged usda prime steaks on the bone are as good as can be, although different than british beef (that's the point, methinks...). Their steak is up par with their NY Branch. Too bad they run out of porterhouse which was what we were looking forward to. Nevertheless, their signature Rib-eye very much delighted our palates. We will definitely be back!
My GF and I had dinner this opening weekend at Smith and Wollensky's to celebrate her birthday somewhere a bit different. From a birthday greeting at the door, to a fantastic seat, complimentary chocolate cake (with a Happy Birthday in icing) and outrageously tasty scallops & fillet mignon...it ended up a fantastic night all round. Hat off especially to Andy who made our night amongst a very busy restaurant. Top effort.
We had been watching the restaurant prepare to open over the last few months so naturally took an early opportunity to see it from the inside out rather than... Service was in keeping - friendly but subtle; Food was not too fussy as in some high end restaurants and the seared tuna I had on a bean salad was rare perfection - After a few months of settling into the neighborhood I am sure people will think that this is where Smith and Wollensky started.
