I used to LOVE this place. Taking 24-48 hours for a doctor to return a call (their policy) about test results is not good when you have a dog who is suffering.
I recently brought my Dog in for a Pregnancy check to get a puppy count and very unpleased with the services. My dog was seen on 1/19 and we were told the X-rays were very unclear and there looked to be 4 or 5 but recommended we give it another week so we went back yesterday 1/26 and were then told they could only see 3 possibly 4 and that it was still very unclear. Really bummed about this one. My husband and I needed to find a new groomer locally and after lots of googling we chose SSAH based on the amount of great reviews. We called to schedule and the receptionist told us they were a month out, no problem. We schedule the appointment. She also told me I would need to have our vet send over a copy of his shot records. Would you be able to call in at your earliest convenience and speak with the hospital manager so she can get some additional information and hopefully rectify the situation. Again my deepest apologies for a situation that was not handled appropriately from start to finish.
I have always taken my babies here. The vets are great! Dr Vanhusan and Monto are really compassionate and knowledgeable. The reasoning for my not recommending is mainly because of the front desk. It truly has changed in the past 6 months to a year. Whenever I call they make it seem like a bother and it almost makes me dread calling! When you go in there rarely do you even get a smile. We had an emergency with one of our dogs last month. It was early in the day, but when I called (twice), I was turned away and was offered an appointment for the following day. I called another local vet, desperate to get her in somewhere, and they told me to bring her right in, even though they’ve never seen us before. Customer service is not the greatest and prescription pricing is ridiculous!
I have been a fan of this place for years, love Lindy for grooming and the doctors for my dogs...but lately the grooming was horrible and they skinned my doodles and shaved their tails to look like poodles! I called to complain and the person on the phone said the manager was on vacation and never got a call back or apology. Time to find a new grooming home.
Dr Van Husen is absolutely wonderful but the office staff leaves little to be desired. I've been going to South Suburban for 22 years. Recently my dog got sick. I called for an appointment and was told the next available would be over a week. Then when he got worse, I was told there were no appointments available.
