Great food, great service. The only down side was a very pricey set menu, which seemed to me to be more inflated than London prices (but not in London!!).
Started with a delicious Crystal Ball cocktail at Thai Square St Albans (long, lychee and ginger, refreshing) and the wines by the glass were reasonable. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The food, however, was ok but very heavy on thick sauces that in my view could easily have come from a supermarket - some meaty giant prawns were still overwhelmed and I would suggest the chefs focus instead on a more distinctive flavour.
Very quick service for a Friday night. Thai Square may be more expensive that other local Thai restaurants but the quality of the food is much better.
Had a lovely evening at Thai Square St Albans. The staff were welcoming and the service was first class. The food came in a timely fashion and was delicious. Overall a great friendly atmosphere and a would visit again.
The Thai Square, St Albans, was excellent. My husband and I went for an early evening supper and took advantage of the set menu for £10.95 for two courses (available 6 - 7.30 pm). There was a great selection even though it was a limited menu. I went fo the Chicken Satay and hubby went for the Hot and Spicey Soup - both of which were delicious. We both went for the Chicken Green Curry with steamed rice and we were not dissapointed. We shared a bowl of ice cream which was excellent.
Thai Square St Albans has always been a ideal place to have authentic Thai food. I had the sweet and sour tofu with rice which was nice and my partner had the red curry! We both enjoyed this venue with its wonderful/friendly staff!
thai square st albans.amazing fresh, authentic food as usual.my 4th visit here for a birthday celebration.
Thai Square occupies one of the architectural highlights of St Albans - the Tudor Tavern. We were expecting it to be a culinary highlight too. Sadly it was not to be. Our mixed starter for two was overpriced for what it was. For a main I ordered the duck curry with rice and my wife had a red chicken curry. When they arrived they looked suspiciously similar. At £50 for a shared starter, two mains and two beers it seemed overpriced despite the warm welcome and good service.
Attentive service. Would have liked assistance with choices and menu was quite large.
