I tried refinancing my home with my first mortgage lender, and it was taking up to 5 months to close. I decided to cut them loose, and went with VanDyk Mortgage, and it took 30 days. They always kept me updated on the progress of the loan. I never felt the need to follow up with them. It was a great experience.
