DO NOT become a member of Edge Fitness (Shelby Township)!!! I have had the worst experience and terrible customer service For over a year I have been trying to cancel my membership. I was denied twice to end my contract early, so I made sure I canceled as soon as my contract ended. I called them to cancel and an employee told me to go to a website to cancel.. so I did. Busy as hell, I was debating on getting a membership here and the sales associate was nice but I just knew that this gym wasnt for me. The ONLY thing I liked was that they had a womens only area and another area that has a movie theater. I'm convinced that I'm a bat at this point because I'm such a night owl so the dark movie theater room almost had me convinced to join. The Good: Probably the best business hours of any club around. Large variety of equipment. Plenty of machines; resistance & cardio. Hoist, Hammer Strength & Cybex are quality. Large green turf stretch area & a short 3 lane track. Plenty of TVs everywhere. The Bad: First of all, beware when you sign up for gym memberships that LOCK you in for a year in advance! I chose to leave Edge because I feel it is overcrowded. I didn't want to wait for machines anymore (one day i waited 50 minutes for 1 machine). I'm disappointed because I loved edge when i first signed up years ago, but now there are hundreds of people there in the afternoons/evenings and it makes it difficult to workout unless you have a few extra hours in your schedule to accomodate wait times

A combination of the cold weather and New Year's resolutions can make those months the most popular time of the year to workout indoors at the gym! Way too overcrowded. They allow 14 year olds in. You can be there at 10 PM and kids are still socializing with backpacks on. As if they have been there since they got out of school. Zero cares given by staff towards kids playing on machines and not actually working out. I have witnessed teenage kids standing on equipment, misusing equipment for jokes and giggles. I'm sad to have to write this review. TLDR: this business is an absolute scam. I started going to the edge on 11/29/21 on a Black Friday promotion. I loved the gym, made friends with the staff, etc. I was there every single day. It wasn't until recently that my feelings changed. I had only signed up for 1 year, and was looking to cancel due to life changes. It was then that I found out that my membership was active until 12/29/22 (13 months). Extremely overcrowded with people that just sit in machines and attracts minors that just hang out on machines talking. No rules are enforced so it's a social hangout atmosphere. If you like going to the gym, working out and leaving stay away. It's a social vibe, not a training vibe

Cons: Place is designed like an overstocked garage. You walk in and they got about 20 treadmills to the right, and in front of that you have this oversized, unused football field looking thing where there are 3 moms shooting the bull sitting in a circle like they are waiting for class to start. Locked me into a contract when I was a minor and received no parental permission. Accepted a high school id as a valid form of id. Trying to send a debt collector after me when the contract isn't even valid since I was a minor when it was "sent".
