This is a brand new community and I must say that I am very impressed with it. The staff are awesome and very helpful. The community is clean of course. I love the way that the staff is caring for my parents and the way that they treat my parents. The food is good and we like the overall feel of the community.
The Sheridan of Lakewood Ranch is one of the best, if not, the best ALF in the Manatee/Sarasota county area. After previewing many facilities, The Sheridan had more pluses than most any of the other facilities. The staff was very observant and I was impressed with the way they were so prompt at answering any questions that I had. The staff is knowledgeable and all needs would definitely be taken care of if this was the place that I chose for my loved ones.
The staff is by far the most personable group! They have all the kinks worked out before anyone moved in. This is the perfect "home" for our Mom!! The food is very good, dining room is bright and cheery, and having very courteous servers make it a lovely experience. We moved my mother out of the facility after about a year. Multiple issues including a revolving door of Directors, Nursing, and they don't have enough caregivers on staff so they use an agency. I registered a complaint with State of FL. After investigation, which included speaking with other residents, they found several more issues. Do NOT be fooled by the pretty appearance.
My mother has been residing her for over a year. While the building is beautiful and the sales people are on point, it is all smoke and mirrors. This past weekend my mother hit her call button between 8:30-8:45. No one answered it till after 10. This is inexcusable BUT HEY, it's not the first time it has happened. Nope, it's the 4th. They are constantly short staffed. They are on their 3rd or 4th Executive Director as well as Director of Nursing. Continues to have problems with staffing -as in people showing up for their shifts or being kind to their residents. One caregiver was very condescending to my mother and while a supervisor witnessed it... all she did was report it to the Director. No one stepped in to defuse the situation. Their response to call times is egregious - can be over an HOUR before the respond.... so basically the resident could have fallen or be having a medical emergency with no one answering.
