I would say the memory care staff was the best of the best. Always kind and good to communicate. They worked very well with Hospice when it was time to bring them in. The facility is in a great location. The management changes like the wind and the transition is painful with little communication. I hear it's the same for most assisted living communities. I would recommend this facility for the floor staff alone. They were awesome!
Staff is very friendly and knows everyone's name. Housekeeping is okay-once my mom figured out their schedule she was fine. Sometimes they don't bring her laundry back on schedule, but once she asks they take care of it quickly. Communication about programming and events is very good. They use the LifeLoop website/app. Communication on the nursing/care side could be better. If I have a question or concern I don't always get a response the same day. There seems to be a high turnover of staff. I don't think she ever saw the physician who serves at the facility. Not even at the beginning. She was not allowed to take her supplements because it wasn't on the Rx list, but no one helped get them on the list. She never had a working microwave the whole time, even though we asked several times. I came to visit and her bathroom sink was clogged. Nice place. Change of managers here was not handled well. It's been a bumpy ride for weeks now. I'm sure things will settle down soon. We picked this community because of the location, cost, friendly folks, and homie feel.
There are several additional things that are great about this facility: the hallways have openings to the balcony and are well lit, there is all day food service and a menu that is available to always order, if you don't like the day's menu, the rooms have a nice Layout with enough closet space. The tour experience at The Village of Meyerland was great! The person who showed us around was very kind and informative. I did not like the high-rise feel, which was the main reason we decided against this facility for our loved one.
I toured this facility and it was ok, not the best fit for my loved one.
The staff has been receptive to our requests, and have worked with us to resolve issues that come up. Our mom seems to like the staff. She is largely non-communicative but they talk to her and not at her
Our family has liked everything so far with The Village of Meyerland. Many different activities (which we are encouraging her to get more inovlved in hoping she will meet new friends) Everyone from top to bottom seems to be very friendly, caring and compassionate towards her and all residents. Can't say enough good things about them, they really seem to care for everyone whom is staying there. Great place for your loved ones to live and have chance to meet many new people and friends.
