My parents are living in a two bedroom two bathroom unit, it works great to give them more space to live in but allows them to still live together and get help with daily living activities. The caregivers and staff are all extremely caring and have done a great job getting to know my parents needs. My Dad raves about the programming, live music and carnivals, and all kinds of fun stuff to do on site. This was a good choice for my mom. Good activities and some great staff who are kind and caring. Apartment size is perfect for her decreased mobility. A few issues with attention to detail/cleanliness but staff is quick to respond to requests.
Our experience has been great partly because mom is easy going. Her apartment is more than adequate and quite large actually. I love that activities are offered most days because that is needed for brain enrichment. With memory slipping sometimes mom forgets she has other things to occupy her mind, solitaire on her phone, coloring books, puzzles (jigsaw). Some things need to be reminded. I literally would give them 5 all the way. My mother is very happy, her apartment is very nice and she attends everything. All she keeps telling me is "the people are so nice here".
I just want to say how pleased I am with Village on the Park McKinney. My mom has lived at this community for more than 2 1/2 years but it wasn’t always Village on the Park McKinney. Great staff! Lovely decor. Feels intimate and homey and very welcoming. Just simply feels like home! It's been a great experience for us!
I had no idea where to start when beginning the search for my parents. I was pleased to learn that VOP McKinney had larger apartments (2 bedroom) as my parents had to downsize from their home. The apartment is still tight but it’s about the largest you’ll find in assisted living. Plus everything else is going well and they are never in their apartment anyway!
Positive-caregivers are very nice and supportive Negative-poor communication Communication problems: Notification when a new resident is moving in the suite. When multipe residents have covid. When they take a resident offsite for activities such a lunch.
