I am giving AHD one star because there is no lower rating. We brought our beloved yorky mix to AHD several years ago. She was given a courtesy exam for $1.00 and had various tests totaling about $200. shortly thereafter we noticed she had bloating. We brought her back, and they did more tests. They said she had cushings disease. They told us that we could put her on medication but it would require more tests to determine what the medication should be. She was in intense pain and obviously suffering, and we felt sh... read more
I have 3 rescued dogs, 2 rescued cats. We just moved to this area a couple of months ago. I have been one by one taking my pets for their $1 New Patient Exam. Dr. Matthews saw one dog and one cat - and I walked out of there with, indeed the $1 fee for the dog, basically because she was up to date on everything concerning her shots and her diabetes with her prior vet. The cat - we had a $54 bill, which included the $1 free exam, for steroid shot and prednisolone syrup for a leg that she was limping on, but no apparent fr... read more

Teresa, We do apologize for the confusion and do feel badly for the other clients rudeness as that is not a culture we are comfortable with from ANY client. We have tried to reach out to you but have received no response. Please call me so we can discuss your experience and what we can do to make it right. Sincerely, Hamilton Olarte Practice Manager 727-733-9351
Our babies (2 cats) went to the "petiatrician" for a wellness check. All is well thankfully. The doctor was really wonderful but the facility has gone to the dogs. All the dogs were barking as loud as possible & the staff was overwhelmed. I'm not sure why they haven't figured out how to control the reception room by now. The check out desk is too small, old & there is not enough staff. It's hard to change...we really miss how clean, professional, quiet & new the vet's office in Orlando was. Scaredy cats hate loud barking do... read more
Well, like a few other people, this practice was recommended to us, especially with this one outstanding doctor. Though my hubby thought it was a bit pricey, I don't usually look too close on the bill. I have a very senior dog and ever since we have come to the practice, my dog has experienced health issues, including to seizures. There are a handful of extremely lovely people working there, especially Julie, another young lady at the reception and one working in the Kennel. However, we had a few issues were meds were call... read more
Dog Killers! We are new to the area. This vet was recommended to us. Our dog was hacking and we wanted to know why. Took her in on a Saturday, medicine was prescribed. Took her back on Wednesday after noon, different medicine was prescribed. Saw two different vets. Both said our dog's heart and lungs sounded fine. Less than four hours after our 2nd visit our dog DIED of congestive heart failure. She was only 8 years old. Really? They couldn't tell something was wrong? Can you sue a vet for malpractice?
Business response:
Dear Kevin, First let me say, I am extremely sorry for your loss. At Animal Hospital of Dunedin, we understand pets are family members and realize you are upset. We always strive to treat all our patients with love and kindness while providing the best care possible. As the Practice Manager, I would like to thank you for bringing this situation to my attention. I have tried several times to contact you but have been unable to reach you to discuss the specifics of your experience. I would appreciate if you would please ca... read more
I am positive that the veterinarians here work on commission. I no longer trust them to suggest what is best for my dog. They come out with a written estimate, pushing you to do everything on the list if you love your pet. Well, I sent that list to my former veterinarian in Chicago. He called me right back and told me to immediately find another vet. He said, "They know full well you only need to do two things on this list of 13 things. They have literally thrown in everything they could possibly charge you for. And their pr... read more
My 12 year old Shih Tzu had a large growth (mushroom size) near where his belly button is located and it burst open and was an open wound. I put antibiotic ointment on it and bandaged it as best I could and took him to this Animal Hospital last year. By the time I got there, the makeshift bandage had come off so now it is an open wound which worried me greatly.. Dr. Woodley examined him, gave me a (Gasp!) estimate of $599.00 to remove it which to me appeared to be a simple snip of less than 1/2 inch of tissue where it was... read more
Nope. I barely liked this place to begin with when I got a check up call from someone in their office last night. At 9:40pm. I understand that it is the internet age and people are apparently available 24 hours a day, but. . . no. In addition to the hour, the tone of voice and lack of actually hearing what I was saying to the receptionist, or whomever I was talking to, was infuriating. Full disclosure, my dog has Cryptorchidism (he only has one ball) and it seemed weird one day so we took him in. After much grabbing an... read more
My first experience here was OK, a little pricey but they were decent. My dog was very hesitant to go near the dr even when he had a treat. That sends a red flag to me. I decided to avoid this place after he scanned a rescue dog that someone was trying to put a microchip in. The chip came up as stolen. He called the microchip company and told them he scanned the dog. He let the people leave with the dog and said he was not going to call the police but would not put another chip in a dog reported stolen. Seriously, this dog w... read more
