Love this place! They saved our 3 month old boxer's life! I work in health care and for one know you get what you pay for. I've gone to a smaller clinic with my 12 year old shitzu her whole life, and they were good for check ups and exams but so slow. When our boxer, Dak, went down, scary fast, Animal Medical Center was there to get him better. They are fast, efficient and super friendly. Dr. Scott did a great job, talked to us everyday about Dak's condition and truly cared (that makes the biggest difference!). They loved o... read more

I called about having a gentle stray cat that has a bad tooth. The staff wouldn't even assess her until a $70 fee was paid. The cat is in serious pain. I think about the thousands of dollars my family has paid to that office. Really? Come on Mayfields. One compassionate courtesy case? Or is $$$$ the only important factor?!

Do not take your pet here! My girlfriend and I took a stray cat in that had been hanging around our house and looked starved. She was tiny and missing teeth which they dismissed as simple malnourishment and told us she was probably around 9-10 months old. We got a second opinion at another clinic and we found that she's actually missing teeth due to gingivitis and that she is actually 8-10 years old, and has a serious thyroid problem that she is thankfully being treated for now! Stay away from this place, they DO NOT know wh... read more

Business response:

Typically on stray kittens or adult cats, a physical exam, deworming and good nutritional plan is the first step. We typically do not test for thyroid and other diagnostics unless there is no initial improvement. Hypothyroidism is a commonly diagnosed disease in older cats. Cats can especially be hard to age, but it is apparently older to have thyroid disease. We apologize for your unhappiness with our clinic. It is certainly not the "norm", but we understand. We sincerely hope your pecan sandy does well.

I will NEVER go back into Animal Medical Center of Hattiesburg, MS. When I purchased my dog from AMC I was told he was a miniature Cocker Spaniel. To my surprise I found out this was INCORRECT, he is full size. We were told he had no issues when we purchased him only to find out months later that he had a skin disease that was "taken care of." We have taken him to be groomed at AMC several times and he has only been cut the way we asked them to TWICE! On multiple occasions I have went to pick him up and he has peed, not exci... read more
