My husband, sister in law and myself met with [name removed] at the Renaissance in Sherman last month as we were looking around and gathering information on assisted livings for my husband's mother. There is a definite lack of investment by the owners. It has been in operation for several years and they have never replaced the carpeting or renovated the apartments. There is a significant staff turnover. They haven’t had a shuttle bus driver for over 4 months. The food is mediocre at best. There is a fairly new manager who is an improvement over the previous managers

Since I reviewed last, Renaissance does have a new chef. Trouble is the food is still not tasty nor attractive. Examples: canned green peas with no seasoning, pork and salmon are over cooked and very dry, cake is dry as can be. For what the residents are paying in rent, Holiday Corp. could afford to pay a good chef! Other problems I listed before still remain.

[Name removed] and the ladies did a great job at getting our parents to feel comfortable with the idea of moving in to the Renaissance. They took the time to provide two tours over a few weeks time, never once trying to pressure our parents, they invited them to eat in the dining room and made sure they met other people who live in the community there. Since the first visit 4.5 months ago with [name removed] we knew this was where out Mother should move to. Our Mother was also extremely pleased during her visit and excited to move. Since that time I can say my Mother in law, my wife, and myself have been welcomed with open arms by all the management, staff, and residents. Our Mother has thrived and recommends the Reniassance to all her friends. One has already moved in. The food is very good, clean eating area, and the servers are very polite. As people explore retirement living [name removed] educates you on the full community experience. She's outgoing and will introduce you to other residents who know best what life is like at her community. She also introduces you to health and wellness professionals and invites you to experience first hand the recreational and dining services.

I have nothing but great things to say about Renaissance - Sherman. The staff has made the process my wife went through to hep her parents seamless.
