We absolutely love Bright Star! My son has been there almost a year, and it is fantastic. We moved him from his other day care just so that he could be closer to our house and start going to school with kids he will hopefully go to elementary school with. We didn't realize how much his old school was lacking until he got to Bright Star. The staff is excellent and has been since he started. The teachers are so caring, and they really pay attention to each and every child. I can't say enough good things about my son's t... read more

My daughter has gone to Bright Star Academy for about 6 months and we've experienced some ups and downs there. We toured quite a few of the daycares in the area and, although it was on the high end for tuition, we felt that it was the best choice. To start with, the facility is absolutely gorgeous. The indoor playground, sprinkler park, outdoor playground, cafeteria, and bright classrooms were definitely strong selling points. The 3 star rating is a result of the quality of staff (and aren't teachers what the experienc... read more

My experience at Bright Star from before enrolling was a nightmare. After touring i thought that this place was going to be a great fit for my high energy & strong will four year old. The campus presented a fun environment and i love that they offered different enrichment classes. We set a start date and received a less than a week notice to push the date back, apparently the teacher they hired was a no show: (how do you start enrolment for a class without A TEACHER?) this happened TWICE. However swallowing their error we w... read more

Business response:

Hi Amanda, We are very disheartened to see that you took to Yelp to express your dissatisfaction with Bright Star. Unfortunately, you failed to mention a few key points as to how and why we arrived at the difficult decision of disenrolling your child. After numerous incidents of your Pre-K child hitting, biting, punching, kicking teachers and other children to the point of leaving marks as well as throwing items in the classrooms (which put the other students at risk), destruction of property (holes in the walls, broken ... read more

Ive had a particular opportunity to watch the management work . The teachers seem ok but the way that the management and owner treated the children was concerning to say the least . I have notified the proper people . I would literally go to any other facility . This place isn't good for kids .

Business response:

Hello Franklin, We appreciate when our families take time to review us, but it seems that you may have the wrong program as we don't have any record of you ever having visited us. Maybe you have us confused with another local preschool with a similar name? If it was definitely us then we'd love the opportunity to make things right. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience (512) 257-STAR.

The school is beautiful and I love the care they gave my daughter. I had to pull my daughter out due to a billing issue which I was willing to overlook if I would've just got an apology. The teachers here are wonder ,but they are overworked with kids piled up in one class, getting ripped off from their paychecks, and cleaning all day. This place really has potential, but the owner really shouldn't have the school if it's to expensive for her to maintain. I picked my daughter up during snack and it was barely anything on the n... read more

What once was a "Bright Star" among schools and daycares has dulled quite a bit in the past year and a half. So much so that we recently had to move our child to a different school. The main issue? The administration. The administration and owner have no educational degrees and spent no time teaching in classrooms, nor do they seem to attend or offer professional development to inform educational decisions. Additionally it is a family run business: the principal (who started as principal two years ago right after gradu... read more

Business response:

Dear Bobbi-Jo, I am saddened to see that you have left our program so disenchanted. It is very disheartening to have a family who has been at our program for over two years leave so unhappy and disgruntled. I truly wish you would have expressed your dismay upon disenrollment. Unfortunately, when dad stopped by the office to turn in the paperwork, he stated that you were leaving because your daughter had tested out of pre-k and was going to Kindergarten early. This is why we never questioned your withdrawal or tried to c... read more

I have had my daughter in their program less than 2 months and am already planning on removing her. Her teacher is fantastic however the support staff is extremely disorganized. Their communication skills are piss poor at best. They consistently walk away when I'm talking to them and take no action to correct concerns. I feel that they don't have the safety and concern of the children as a top priority. One example, many children's (and teacher's) hands began peeling due to the harsh soap they were using. My daughter... read more

Business response:

Hello Laura, I am sorry to hear that your experience with Bright Star Academy was less than ideal; however, I feel the need to dispel some of your concerns that you had with our program. First and foremost, I am happy to see that the care your daughter received from her teacher was exceptional, as our teachers are the heart of our school and the well being of your little one is our top priority. Secondly, as an institution that prides itself on our eco-friendly amenities that range from the soap we use to the source of ener... read more

I had my child there for a year and in that year there were a lot of turn overs with the teachers some would only be there a week and with not experience at all. The was a lack of admins or owner of the school because she lives in a different state. Before I left I was told that the owners daughter who is just out of school and with no experience with children was taking over the school. The children seemed to always get sick even though they have a nurse I know they didn't follow regulations and the teachers would be the... read more

My daughter has been at Bright Star for 3 years now and my older daughter graduated from their pre-K program and was very well prepared for Kinder. While I love the teachers and have had wonderful experiences with all of them, I repeatedly find the administration to be difficult to work with. The owner, who lives in Ohio, does not delegate to the on-site staff which leads to decisions being made on a purely business focused basis and removes the thought of the children from the equation. Tuition is raised a tremendous amount... read more
