TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I ordered the #1, which was 2 tenders with fries. I got mild & medium. Neither was spicy, but I’m used to spice so maybe that’s why, because others have said these heat levels were hot. Sorry couldn’t post a pic because I got right to eating. I rated 2 stars on the food because I didn’t like the taste of it, the seasoning on the tenders. Can be hit or miss. The chicken is high quality. Can be over-seasoned at times. Get the Chicken Tenders or Sliders. A step up from Popeyes and it reflects that in its price. Expect a 10-15 minute wait for your order
Update 1 - 2 Stars - October 13th, 2023 I stopped by the store again today hoping to have a different experience. The food was a bit better but the portions were much smaller for some reason! They also forgot to include the French fries for three meals out of the eight meals I ordered. Best halal fried chicken spot I know. The seasoning they put on the fries and chicken don't miss. For less than $20 you can get yourself full with 2 chicken sandwiches and some fries like what other fried chicken joint can beat that pricing. My only issue is they don't give you as much sauce anymore. Any additional sauce cost extra. When I ordered delivery it came with no sauce except for that small container that they usually give with the combo which is quite a let down.
I recently ordered Dave’s Hot Chicken and unfortunately, my experience was rather lackluster. While the concept of a dedicated hot chicken joint excited me, the execution fell short. The food itself, I found it to be underwhelming. The chicken, touted as their specialty, lacked the expected crispiness and tenderness. The flavors were decent, but nothing extraordinary.
