I have been considering a rhinoplasty since I was about 15. It's the one thing that has always made me feel unattractive. I'm currently 23, so I'm sort of in my "prime." I'm happy with my appearance now. But when I see pictures of myself from a profile perspective, I cringe. I often take pictures of myself when I feel like I look good, and I don't even recognize the girl in the pictures. Background: I broke my nose about 3 years ago playing basketball. I'm 33 now (I know, I should grow up. Not an option.), and finally decided to get it fixed. I chose Dr. Shah based on his excellent reputation here and my interaction with a number of his former patients. I did not like the shape of my nose
I had rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction with Dr. Anil Shah in April 2011. I am not completely recovered yet, so this isn't a complete review, but an almost complete review. Breathing: It is amazing. I used to be able to breath through my nose no more than 15% of the time before surgery and after surgery, I can breath through my nose close to 100% of the time. My nose was super deviated from a previous rhinoplasty, I could not breath, and aesthetically it looked weird.
I had a small bump on my dorsal hump. Although my nose was not huge and I liked how I looked from the front., I was always embarrased of my side profile. I am also looking forward to breathing better!
I have never liked my nose even in junior high I begged my mom to take me to get it fixed. She always told me I'd "grow into" it. Well I've graduated college and gotten married and I don't think I've grown into it yet. Luckily I have found a PS who is going to make the corrections in late May. I'm so excited but really nervous too!
