I have been considering a rhinoplasty since I was about 15. It's the one thing that has always made me feel unattractive. I'm currently 23, so I'm sort of in my "prime." I'm happy with my appearance now. But when I see pictures of myself from a profile perspective, I cringe. I often take pictures of myself when I feel like I look good, and I don't even recognize the girl in the pictures. I feel like my nose won't age well (noses keep growing, and I can use my mom as an example of what my nose will eventually look like). I cu... read more
Background: I broke my nose about 3 years ago playing basketball. I'm 33 now (I know, I should grow up. Not an option.), and finally decided to get it fixed. I chose Dr. Shah based on his excellent reputation here and my interaction with a number of his former patients. He looked on the inside of my nose, told me he could make an improvement, and of we went. I didn't want huge changes, just a better version of me. Here's my story. Date of surgery: May 31st, 2012. Night before surgery I was extremely nervous. Ordered my "last... read more
I did not like the shape of my nose
I had rhinoplasty, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction with Dr. Anil Shah in April 2011. I am not completely recovered yet, so this isn't a complete review, but an almost complete review. Breathing: It is amazing. I used to be able to breath through my nose no more than 15% of the time before surgery and after surgery, I can breath through my nose close to 100% of the time. I know it may sound funny, but I love breathing through my nose every day. It is such a radical, life changing thing! Recovery: My recovery has been slo... read more
My nose was super deviated from a previous rhinoplasty, I could not breath, and aesthetically it looked weird.
I had a small bump on my dorsal hump. Although my nose was not huge and I liked how I looked from the front., I was always embarrased of my side profile. I am also looking forward to breathing better!
I have never liked my nose even in junior high I begged my mom to take me to get it fixed. She always told me I'd "grow into" it. Well I've graduated college and gotten married and I don't think I've grown into it yet. Luckily I have found a PS who is going to make the corrections in late May. I'm so excited but really nervous too! I also found out I have a deviated septum so we are getting that taken care of too, I'm so worried about going back to work and everyone seeing me all bruised up. I took 8 days off I hope that's e... read more
Needed a fresh look:)
RealSelf has helped me make my decision about booking my rhinoplasty so I thought I would share my process through rhinoplasty as well. My nose has bugged me ever since I was 11 years old. I'm constantly self-conscious of it and dislike most of my pictures. I have a hump, bulbous tip, and too much projection. My friends and family tell me I don't need the surgery but if I don't get it I'll always wonder. I finally got my surgery booked a while back for over spring break! This is the only time that will work for me since I'm ... read more
