When I graduated college, I told myself if I got a good job, I would reward myself with the rhinoplasty I've wanted my entire life. Check. A lot of my friends and family have called me vain for thinking about getting rhinoplasty. Nothing can be perfect, but much of my insecurity has come from having this larger than life nose. Anytime I'd see a picture of myself, my eyes would always hone right into my witch nose. I hated sitting in class and just barely seeing the bump in my line of vision, and I hated feeling unattractive.... read more

Dr. Shah is an excellent and knowledable surgeon. He took his time explaining the procedure in great detail and answered all of my questions. I was very confident in having him perform my surgery. During my recovery, I experienced slight swelling and no bruising, which was great! Also the staff was extremely professional and attentive. They called me after I had the surgery to check on how I was feeling and if I had any questions. In addition, his staff is bilingual which makes it easier for anyone who speaks spanish. I'm 3 ... read more

I have always had an issue with my nose, in particular my profile. As my friends and family have been saying, "you dont need it!". My response is, of course I dont need it but I want to do it for myself. After explaining that everyone has come on board to support me. I will update better pictures as the surgery date comes closer.

I was never happy with the symmetry of my face. I always thought my nose was to big and originally wanted rhinoplasty done. Upon having my consultation, Dr. Shah informed me that a chin implant would work better for me and would also be cheaper. He went through a whole consultation with me showing me pictures and everything needed for a chin implant and I was sold. On the day of my procedure everything went as planned. I was awake for the whole time but numbed up like crazy so I had little to no pain. Dr. Shah did a little n... read more

Hey there RealSelf family, My journey starts 5 years ago, when I was at the age of 15. It was the ripe age for puberty to take its toll, and aside from the nice growth spurts in my height, I also ended up with a growth spurt in my nose. It didn't bother me until it caught people's eyes, and the nickname of "Big Nose" was slapped onto my name. Having sibling that were born with normal sized/face-fitting noses, I really felt alone in this struggle. As I grew older, I was able to accept what I considered a flaw, but it never le... read more

I had my initial rhinoplasty in 2001 when I was 23, and while it was an improvement over the old nose, I was never 100% satisfied with it -- the doctor left a hanging columnella and slightly over-rotated tip. In addition, the nose seems still a bit too projected for my (small) face. So after much research and time, I am finally taking the plunge and getting a revision done by Dr. Anil Shah next week! I met with several doctors and his suggestions and imaging best matched what I originally wanted my nose to look like. Updates... read more

Hello RealSelf world! So I’ve been lurking around this site for quite some time now, and can’t even begin to say how helpful and enjoyable it has been to read everyone’s stories throughout these past few months. I don’t know where I’d be without them, so I figured it’s about time that I pay it forward by sharing with you all about my own journey with rhinoplasty. I am a fan of detail and thoroughness, so... here is your fair warning that there is lengthiness ahead. :p The Backstory Well, like a lot of other people around her... read more

I have been considering a rhinoplasty since I was about 15. It's the one thing that has always made me feel unattractive. I'm currently 23, so I'm sort of in my "prime." I'm happy with my appearance now. But when I see pictures of myself from a profile perspective, I cringe. I often take pictures of myself when I feel like I look good, and I don't even recognize the girl in the pictures. I feel like my nose won't age well (noses keep growing, and I can use my mom as an example of what my nose will eventually look like). I cu... read more

Background: I broke my nose about 3 years ago playing basketball. I'm 33 now (I know, I should grow up. Not an option.), and finally decided to get it fixed. I chose Dr. Shah based on his excellent reputation here and my interaction with a number of his former patients. He looked on the inside of my nose, told me he could make an improvement, and of we went. I didn't want huge changes, just a better version of me. Here's my story. Date of surgery: May 31st, 2012. Night before surgery I was extremely nervous. Ordered my "last... read more
