About a year ago, I rented a storage space at the Ashland, MA location of Extra Space Storage. I arranged this from out if state. I spoke to Andrew who was pleasant enough. But within a year, the monthly rent went from $149 to $307. In fact, they stopped putting the dollar amount on my automatic payment text messages, which is deceptive behavior in my opinion. Reserved online because this was the best priced place requested a 5 x 10 inside unit temperature controlled. Got a call confirming a exterior unit with no mention of temperature control. We played phone tag all week. I would call nobody would ever picked up the phone. They were always away from the desk.I told them the specific times that they could call me and actually reach me, they never did. Rented a unit here for close to three years, during that time the price increased by $80/month! Very disappointed! In addition, my stuff got water damaged. Lost a good deal of a lifetime collection, the insurance did pay, but some is irreplaceable. Such a disappointment. We have moved to a much more reasonably priced setting, and 6 months later, no price increases, stay away if you expect to store long term.
I rented a unit with them because they offered the free first month deal. I rented with them for exactly three years and each year the price went up drastically. When it was time for me to move my belonging out I used the online request to move out. A few hours later I got two calls and an email from them asking me to call them back.
