I have had a 10x10 unit since around 8/22/14 (one month) and I have had a positive experience and zero complaints. My buddy rented from UHaul on Powers and they nickel and dimed him with paying extra for access past 7pm and we experienced an overall negative vibe from the staff. The staff here at Extra Space is very friendly and professional. The rate is reasonable and the access time to the unit is consistent and reasonable (you can access it until 10pm I think). Was given the wrong lock, my storage unit had been open for months. Got a call and was yelled at by this woman when I acknowledged that they made a mistake that has put my property at risk. She was rude and unprofessional and said I should be happy that she changed the lock.... Unbelievable they doubled my unit price and never called me back. Also saw people living in units. So they are great until you read the fine print....I will admit I was late in making my payment...most places they slap you on the wrist you pay a fee no harm no foul...life goes on...not this place. I was 40 days late. I am admitting that but they charged me over $400 in late fees for only being 40 days late. Then tell me they had me in a foreclosure list to sell my stuff to those auction people. I would not have complained about a late fee. Clean facility with easy access. My reason for the crappy review is they will double your rent with only one month notice! I received an email telling me my storage until will be twice as much the next month. I'm okay with raising the rent maybe 10 percent but double! That's taking advantage of people. I came and moved my stuff out and went to another place just down the road and saved some serious money. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere before their algorithm sticks it to you!

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! After 4 months they out of the blue jacked my rate up from $52/month to $97/month due to "market adjustments." They give you a few months to get your stuff moved in and then jack your rate because they think they have you trapped. Super shady business practices. Take your business elsewhere.

I stored goods in two units at the Extra Space Storage facility located on 8th street for approximately 18-months. The facility is very nice, fenced, controlled and appears to be well maintained. My main complaint with the facility is the abrupt increase in rates, and in my case it was shortly after I moved in. I contended the issue with the local personnel and the district manager to no avail. I had to accept the increased rates until I could finally get my goods out of the place. This place is a joke. I reserved a 10'x15' outside unit on the website. When I arrived, the attendant told me only parking spaces were available at that price. I asked for a price for the units (they range from $100-$150 on the website) and he told me $260. I took my business to another storage unit down the street and rented a unit for $100.

I rented a climate controlled unit I put a temp sensor in unit. People leave doors open and during the day when people come and go it acts like a wind tunnel and goes below freezing constantly. They claim guaranteed cleanest facilities and the best maintained. What bull it snowed they didn't even attempt to clean it until 3pm the following day couldn't even get to our unit. Me and 6 friends shared a 10x10 storage unit for the summer, and our unit was broken into. We lost over $3,000 worth of equipment and electronics. This facility does not have security cameras inside the units, and they didn't notice that an entire hall had been robbed until we arrived at the storage unit 3 months later. Although the facility has security codes to get into the lot, they do not have individual codes for each building.
