I was initially very happy with my choice of using a unit with Extra Space until I got a letter about increases. I've had the unit for 3 months and it is now up $70 from what we agreed on. I understand increases happen but by $70 dollars? Really? Then I hear this can happen every 3 to 9 months? What a rip off! So much for the kind military discount they gave us. I'd look elsewhere for sure if I had known.

If you think charging $240 a month of a 10x10 box of storage isn't criminal then maybe this is a good place for you. Will probably end up giving most of my stuff away and selling the rest. Will save almost $3000 a year. Unless you have some ridiculously expensive items you can't store anywhere else I really recommend staying away from storage places so they are forced to lower prices. I rented a storage unit when it was CubeSmart in May 2021. I was paying $54 a month for a 5 x 5 unit. The month extra space storage took over, (August 2021?) they increased my monthly rent to $79 a month. I received a notice that the rent would be increasing in January to $149 a month for a 5 x 5 unit. I was ready to move my belongings after I spoke with a different facility who had told me rents should only have nominal increases yearly. First of all the facility is nice for a storage place. However the rate change is completely bonkers. I seen their reply here saying the increase is a fair market amount ... research alternatives. Far from it. The previous company that ran this place When it was cube smart in April 2021 I paid $84 a month for a 5x10. In September it went up to $103 shortly before the companies changed. Earlier this month we got a notice of the rent for the same space going up to $162. This is exactly a 92.8571% increase. Fair market value? ... read more

If I could give them a 0 I would. I have been with this storage facility since it was newly opened. ALWAYS paid on time. Soon after Extra Space purchased this Storage facility they increase my rent by a whopping 82%! This was because it was "worth more". So much for customer loyalty.

We have been customers for several years and went through a couple price increases which understand. I just got a notice that our monthly fee will go up almost 60 dollars from 85 to 145.00 dollars. I can under stand a small increase but almost 80 percent is outrageous. Stay away from this business, they will raise price out of the blue and say well it's because there is limited availability. Basically I'll gouge you until you move out and then change somebody else even more. Thanks.
