We just rented a 10x20 space from at Extra Space Storage on 183 in Leander. It's a new facility, very clean, super secure and an excellent location. Sergio went above and beyond in helping us decide which unit was the right size for us. He provided us with excellent customer service and is a bonus for Extra Space Storage to have as an employee. Thank you Sergio and Extra Space for letting us have peace of mind on knowing our household belongings are well taken care of.

The storage space itself is fine. The customer service was good until my rate increased 43% after 4 months. I called and asked when they would tell me this and was told they sent a postcard. Who looks at a freaking postcard in the mail. I agreed to a smaller unit and received a rate of $63 which made me happy. Then, sure enough, 4 months later my rate was $97. WTH? Initially, I wrote a five-star review for Extra Space Storage, when I was moving in, early 2023. I'm now editing my review to 1 star. I moved out of my storage unit on December 20, 2023. When I was moving my things out, I came across rodent poop throughout the unit. The rodents had chewed up many sentimental items, such as keepsakes from my daughter's childhood. Jacked up my monthly rate by $20 after only 3 months. They will hook you in with a lower rate on their site and raise it after a few months while offering new customers a way lower rate online.

Bait and switch much. 2 months after moving in I get a notice my rate is increasing. I was never told this was a thing and was never offered to lock in the rate. I'll be moving out soon. What a rip off.

Within two months of my move in, they're suddenly increasing my rate by nearly 50% (from $107 to $160). They claim because you pay month to month, it's based on market value. What a rip off. I'll be moving out right away.
They offer a free month but after you pay all their fees and buying a lock plus there insurance that so call free month is only a few dollars less than their monthly rate. They charge a premium for their locks which you have to buy from them that I could purchase on Amazon for less. Or is it they have a master key for the locks so their employees can enter without the customer knowledge. I was told they do not like it when the customer uses a second lock that wasn't purchase from them. Their minimum insurance charge is $11... read more
