Fix required a new rebuilt engine, and 15000 miles later, the quality of their work (at a fair price) is holding up very well (now in Oregon!). '09 Foresters can be maintenance intensive and I'm gradually coming back to liking them with the new(ish) engine from Hometowns efforts...
