At my request, my husband ordered this appliance for me. It has worked well for the most part, for the snoring, however, as a female with a small mouth, I find it too large. It irritates my gums so much that it continues hurting during the next day.
The product didn't help me, however the customer care team was very great. They responded within a few hours of me sending an email to them with my return info. Even though I emailed them on a Sunday.

I acquired this for use when traveling like on airplanes when my c-pap is not available. It seems to work. Deep sleep for an hour with no complaints of snoring from my seat mates. I will continue to use it and ask wife and family about any snoring noise.

I have been using the device for about 3 weeks. I had a CPAP but thought I would try something that was less physically intrusive. It took me a few days to get used to it, but I am over the hump. I went from sleeping about 4 hours a night to a little over 7 hours. I can sleep in the bed with my wife again! The only downside is the kind of nasty goo that forms in the mouthpiece overnight. Sometimes I need to get up in the middle of the night to brush my teeth and the mouthpiece. It is worth the inconvenience!!!!

We don't usually here comments about the second thing you mentioned, but as an alternative you can clean the mouthpiece with a very basic Colgate or Crest toothpaste with water, much the same as you would with the denture cleaner.
