Upstairs lounge is very understaffed. Took 20 mins to get water and meal took 3 hours due to lack of service.
My experience this past Friday was unfortunately disappointing from start to finish. Despite having a 9:15 reservation, we were not seated for 25 minutes. I checked in with the hostess twice. The second time, she admitted she had forgotten about us. From there, several things went wrong. Some of our food and drinks were incorrect, a dietary request on a salad was ignored, and when my brother brought it up, the server was rude. The front hostess and wait staff were wonderful! I was, however, disappointed in my dinner choice. I ordered the fish tacos and it was not what I would normally expect. It was a few tiny pieces of some kind of very crispy fish under a mountain of guac and lettuce. The fish part was very strange. Will definitely order something different next time.
Server untrained. Placed the wrong drink and dinner orders. The meal was awful, very greasy and undercooked. The manager passed our table several times and did not acknowledge us. We had to ask the server to get the Manager to address the wrong meal orders. Overall, very poor service and food quality was not appealing.
The server on the rooftop lounge was working alone when we arrived and had what looked to be about 8 or 9 tables. This was clearly an understaffing issue - and we had to wait a long time to get drinks, refills, appetizers, main order etc. This is not the server's fault - she was great and overworked. We’ve been longtime guests at Joey’s Sherway and usually have great experiences, so it’s disappointing to say this was one of our least enjoyable visits. To start with the positives: our server was brand new but absolutely lovely—pleasant, smiley, and sweet. She took our order promptly and provided excellent service throughout the evening. We came to Joey’s for a business dinner with an important guest visiting from Edmonton, expecting a polished experience. Unfortunately, what unfolded fell well short of the standard we associated with Joey’s. Our guest ordered a frozen Bellini, but while the rest of us received our drinks, hers was delayed due to an ice machine issue. We waited over 10 minutes, hoping to start the evening with a toast, only to be told the machine still wasn’t working and she’d need to choose something else. Joey's has recently changed their menu and unfortunately that changed the experience for us. The service was amazing as usual, but the food we ordered (hamburger) was no bueno. It was cooked well and the server and manager did everything they could to find a solution, but the style of the patty has changed which impacted the experience of eating a regular burger.
