I worked with the Walnut Creek Jumpstart office for 30 days. I initially found their food tracking methodology confusing and inaccurate. I was told they were coming out with a newer version but never saw it. When I asked for specific suggestions on foods I could eat I was told they didn't have that because everyone was so different. This program has some good points and bad points but some of their claims are misleading. As a disclaimer I lost 20 lbs in 4 months on the program, however if you do not want appetite suppressants they offer very little in actual service for the $400/month. The staff (especially the clinician) had no understanding of how to adapt the program for a largely vegetarian diet. I have been an on and off again patient at Jumpstart for the last two years. My opinion of the program is it can work for some, maybe not for others. I lost some weight, but found the program too limiting, as it is a program which is primarily focused on little to no carbs. It is also VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!! And they just increased the price of the program to almost $400 a month!! It is a very restrictive diet, which of course will help you lose weight, as any program will that restricts your caloric intake to almost nothing.... read more
It's hard for me to give a rating, because I think this program will really work for some people, it just didn't work for me. Before I joined I read everything on yelp, so I'm just going to describe my experience as best I can to help other yelpers. The initial visit is $250, but you can get a $50 off coupon code online.
