We owe Miss Yogi our lifelong gratitude and respect. I know what my son was before KHM and what he is today. I was very impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. They were friendly and very engaged with the children. I visited more than 5 schools/child care center.. and this is the school I selected.
Our kids have been attending Kinderhouse Montessori School for the last 4.5 years. They both started when they were 18 months old. My youngest son is now 4 and the oldest, now 6, just left Kinderhouse to start kindergarten at Carmel Del Mar elementary school. Both of my kids were reading 3 letter words before they were 4, the Montessori method of teaching is amazing! I'm writing to update our experience at Kinderhouse Montessori since it's been over two years. We initially took our daughter here from 18mos until she graduated Kindergarten. I would have to say I wish we still had her continue, but unfortunately, we also would like to start her at the brand new elementary school right across from our home since it's the first STEM elementary school in SD school district. Our daughter has been at Kinderhouse about two years now (since she was 18 months old). The staff and teachers are amazing and really care about the kids. While there are periodic teacher conferences, I have always found the teachers available and able to talk about my daughter's education at any time. It truly feels like a family and my daughter loves going to school here. Our son started in the toddler program this year, and he is thriving. I don't know where the negative reviews on Yelp are coming from, but our experience has been very positive. We participate in volunteer time, and our son's main teacher works cooperatively with us to develop a consistent approach to help shape independence and positive development at school and at home. Updated review- surprised to see one or two of these negative reviews. We had a great experience with kinder house. Teachers work extremely hard, were always very professional and engaged. I think the school helped my son both become more independent and social with other kids. The teachers are very warm and will discuss any issue that comes up..also in the 1.5 years we sent my son to the school we didn't observe teacher turnover. My daughter attended this school for three years. I have to say that I was very happy with what I saw there and how the children grew and developed. I heard some complaints about teachers leaving but that is a norm in any job. People's lives change and make adjustments accordingly. I found it unfair to try and blame the administration for these decisions that were made by employees. We changed the school this year due to relocating our home. Our association with Kinderhouse began in 2011 when our son joined as a 2.5 year old. It's been a fantastic experience seeing him journey through the "first plane of development" guided by Ms. Patel and gang.
