My daughter has been attending this school since she was 18 months old and is now in the kindergarten program. Though there has been some bumps along the way, any question or concern I have had has been addressed promptly. First of all, a Montessori education is not for everyone. After reading some of the negative reviews written about Kinderhouse in Mira Mesa I was stunned. I have 2 children enrolled at this school for over a year now and I can't say enough GOOD things about it! The staff is very friendly and professional and does an outstanding job teaching the children independence and respect. The school is very clean and well kept my kids have been sick MUCH less than when they attended a regular day care center. Keep in mind, Kinderhouse is not a child care center or day care. Because of family moves, this is the third Montessori pre-school we've enrolled our children in and the fourth preschool we've tried as a family. So, speaking from the ability to compare to several other places, this is a good school. The atmosphere is in every way geared toward promoting independence and learning. This is my second review for KHM- Sorrevnto Valley. I have two kids enrolled in the school and moved up in their classes from the last time I wrote my review.(in their elementary program and Primary program). As mentioned both my kids started at 18 months in their toddler program when they could barely hold their spoons or could utter 3 words in a row with coherence. My son started going to Kinderhouse when he was 3 in the primary program. We have been very particularly picky at choosing the right school for our son. It sounds crazy, but we visited 7 schools before we found KHM and decided to send him there. I find the other reviews interesting as our experience with Kinderhouse has been completely different. Our daughter started at 18 months and will be 3 in January and is currently transitioning out of the toddler program into the primary program. We find the environment nuturing and loving. Our daughter has grown and learned in leaps and bounds since she's started here. Our daughter has attended this school since she was 2 1/2. She is now 6 (a Jan birthday) and about to graduate Kindergarten. We looked at numerous schools and selected KHM based on their professionalism. strict adherence to the Montessori principles and their devotion to the children. My son (second grade) is in his fourth year here, and my daughter (in kindergarten) is in her third year here. I previously had no experience with montessori, but after visiting the school and seeing how respectful the staff and students were, how engaged the children were with their activities, and how caring and involved the director was as we toured, I decided to enroll our son. The first time I stepped into this Montessori school 3 years ago, I knew this was the school for us. It was so clean, organized and inviting, and I only saw the very best materials used in the classrooms. My older son did his primary Montessori education at Kinderhouse and is currently in the elementary program. His younger brother is also in the primary program at Kinderhouse.
