I had a full knee replacement surgery on August,15th,2016,For the most part this is a good facility, They have a real good physical therapy program, the physical therapist where very professional. Although it would have been nice to have had therapy on the weekends so I could have gotten out of there quicker. The food was really good, the dietian came to my room and asked what type of food I liked, and what portion I desired. La Mesa Healthcare Center is truly an inspiration for those in need of medical attention in the La Mesa area. I spoke with a number of staff members and was very impressed by the service provided to it's patients there. My mother was recently transferred to La Mesa Healthcare Center and she is recovering from a bout with pneumonia. I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude to the aids and staff who make up the remarkable team that is La Mesa Healthcare Center.
My mother had to stay here after a fall & fracture. Facility is very basic and it's right by a freeway. BUT the staff are really attentive and kind. Very professional. The food is pretty good. After surgery it turned out she would have to go back for 4-6 weeks for rehab, and she felt OK about it because the people are nice. (She had been in another facility in a fancier part of town a couple years ago & had a negative experience.)
My mom recently stayed here for a hip injury. Someone stole things from her purse while she was out of the room. The care coordinator Tiffany White was supposed to help us with home health care PT and she completely dropped the ball, leaving us to struggle to get referrals. The staff were rude and the room and bathroom were filthy! I do not know how they passed inspection. Terrible experience.

I was transferred to La Mesa Healthcare in early Sept. 2024 after back surgery. Upon arrival around 7pm I was given instructions by staff whereby I told the Admin. staffer I was given medication at the hospital to induce bowel movement and cannot move my legs and need a portal potty. 3 hours later it was brought into my room and soon there after I rang the bell for assistance to get on the pot. I was recently there recovering from back surgery from the end of Apr 2023 until I discharged myself a week later. In my opinion approx half of the staff cared about the patients and were wonderful. The other half seemed inconvenienced and apathetic. Had a very difficult time getting my pain medication in the correct dose and on time. One nurse was combative and kept arguing with me in the middle of the night while my roommate was trying to sleep (who was also having the same problems with her medication). Absolutely the worst place for me. No one answered the call button for me and my two roommates except for a patient in a wheelchair who checked on us and got what we needed when possible. I shared a bathroom where the floor was soaked in urine. When I came back to my bed I took off the wet booties. When an attendant came in he put new booties on me but didn't wash my feet. I recently had my mom there to recover from open heart surgery. I'm gonna say only two staff were nice out of all of them. whoever was in charge of the call button or service button is horrible at it. Wveeytime my mom buzzed the button no one would come, they didn't give her medication on time in fact it was always 2-3 days late. My mom had a horrible roommate who was always shouting and yelling but no one seemed to care, the fact my mom had no sleep in that place, food was horrible very tasteless, no flavor, cold, stiff. I have finally worked up the courage to write this review. I lost my father this past easter April 17 2022, he entered hospice after there was irreversible kidney damage. One of the several places that I'm blaming is La Mesa Healthcare Center, I would have to say that one of the worst medical experiences my family has been through.
