What a gorgeous building. I went to the "Reading Room" open house yesterday and throughly enjoyed myself.
My 1st grader has been requesting to see the Library of Congress since he learned about Washington D.C. in kindergarten. We were not disappponted. Beautiful architecture, a wonderful children's reading area and interesting exhibits. I had to drag him away.
This is a must visit when in DC - the young readers room is so amazing, Thomas Jefferson's library collection is worth the trip alone and the main reading room is gorgeous.
We "Docent" at the NSDAR, Memorial Continental Hall, museum that shares the same Architect (Edward Pearce Casey) and Beaux Art style. Out of curiosity yesterday, we took a cab over to the Thomas Jefferson building at the LoC, and we were completely awestruck with the beauty and size of this magnificent building. All Americans should travel to DC, and visit the Library of Congress!
This library is our library! It was a highlight of our trip to Washington D.C. Make sure to schedule a guided tour. It is so informative and helps to maximize understanding of the intricacies of the architecture.
Beautiful building filled with history. A definite must see.
