What a great experience This was mine and my family's first ferry experience. I was so nervous driving upon the ferry but the guides made it easy. We ended up riding the ferry around 3 times or more as a time saving drive/adventure. Nice, clean marina The docks and facilities are very nice. We had 2 mic dockhands that were ready and waiting for us. We enjoyed our stay and the close walk to restaurants and a very scenic "walk-about" town. The only reason I did not rate this a 5 is due to the restaurant on site was no longer in business.
Small but Worth Seeing I enjoyed the quaintness of Southport. There are enough restaurants to choose from and an ice cream shop if you're just in the mood to simply walk around. The marina is beautiful -- you'll enjoy the setting!
Great value $5 to take my car on the ferry & save an hour of driving to Carolina beach & the aquarium. Great deal.

Be very careful. We called the day before to confirm our reservation and again on the day of our arrival and were told no problem both times. On our arrival, they said the reservation did not exist and asked who we spoke with. So the lesson is to make sure you get a name and get there early before they give away your slip. They did suggest South Harbor Village which is nice.
