So far my experience has been great - they explained everything up front and 2 of my 3 accounts have been resolved. You might be able to get a better deal overall if you did all the work yourself, as some have mentioned, but I think the service they provide is completely worth it. My minimum monthly payments were much higher that what I currently pay and they were getting me nowhere as far as getting rid of the debt. Doing a good job, but I am still getting letters from Capital One saying they are going to turn my account over to a collection agency.
