Terrible dental surgery experience. Uninstructive discharge instructions. No vet on call after hours to call for info on discharge instructions. Didn't answer phone for an entire Monday when calling for Saturday urinalysis results. Total disaster. Story goes: Surgery for pet that required meds on discharge. No discharge instructions that said when he had last meds, but instructed us to give meds every 12 hours (from when???). RUN AWAY! Unprofessional, rude, incompetence, and price gauging is what you can expect if you bring your animal to this vet. We've been going to this vet since we moved here a few years ago. Started off fine, however, in the past year it has quickly declined. The most recent and final straw, was trying to get my female Bully in to be spayed. This place takes your pet inside, and performs work that you didn't request. Then they charge you via telephone inside before letting your animal leave. We have been here 3-4 times and every single time without fail we leave with a bill at least 2-4 times bigger than we were quoted, paying for things we didn't request. When you tell them that you didn't want the work they did done, they reply, well it was already done. This is the price.

I wish I had read the reviews before I went to North Oatlands. I made an appointment for an ultrasound and the third of 3 Alazin injections for my bitch. The first 2 had been administered a week earlier in Ohio. I was told that would be fine. When Dr. Rickard saw my bitch, she said the record and instructions from Dr. Hutchison of Animal Clinic Northview in Ohio were not acceptable. Dr. Rickard would need to do her own evaluation. I took my Doberman to this vet to assess his cropped ears that aren't standing. By the end of the visit I paid $400 for other tests that I hadn't gone in for. They also charged me to keep him there for the day while I was at work. My regular vet never charges for this. Their estimate to attempt to make the weak ear stand was $450-$550. I've read about procedures online costing in the $100 range to correct ears. Will not be back.

I give the vet 4 stars on knowledge... -4 on ability to communicate clearly about 'exactly' what the test they recommend and the cost (which is not spoken about at all). I only went to this vet for a second opinion. They recommended test that were to tell if the problem was from a hormone imbalance or if it was bacteria. The pet was on antibiotics for over 4 weeks. I was told it would tell if it was hormonal. I asked how they do that and they said they get a specimen and send it off to be evaluated and those test would ind... read more
