Great machine that cleans like a dream. And unlike the older model, it does not wind itself up into a ball. Hallelujah.
I want to love this pool cleaner, except the Water Management System is poorly designed. It clogs if there is any small debris in the pool bottom and requires you to take it apart and clear the small particles. The wheel water jet is not accessible without taking the WMS off the unit. VERY POORLY DESIGNED unless you keep a clean pool. Stick with the less expensive and simpler design Polaris in my opinion.
The P39 is a great pool cleaner, EXCEPT the Water Management System is not designed well. It clogs continuously when we open the pool each season when there is small particles to pickup. The water jets clog and it stops operating. I think the simpler design is better suited if you have any small particles in your pool from surrounding landscaping or trees. I have to take the WMS out and clean the jet that powers the wheels daily when spring starts and all the pollen and debris find the water.

Working well We had the black version for years, this was a nice switch for a white plaster pool.
Minor Science Project I have a love / hate relationship with pool cleaners… to me they are either incredible or the worst piece of junk ever designed... usually the latter. Our Polaris 380 finally drowned after 5 years and rather than put more money into another rebuild kit, we opted to bite the bullet and get the P39. Best Pool Vac I have owned I have owned two other top brands of pool vacs. Both dumped a load of gunk back into the pool when you remove them unless you turn them upside down which is a pain. This vac does not allow anything out when you remove it straight up. My wife could not connect or disconnect the old units feeder hose, this one slips in nicely and comes out easily, but stays put. A great upgrade from my 14 year-old 280 The P39 is much better than my old 280. The wider tires navigate the seams in my vinyl pool with ease where my 280 would often get stuck or turned around at the depth transitions or on the main drain covers. It's a little annoying to empty out the dual-chamber bag but I also have to do it less often. It cleans my pool quickly and efficiently with a lot less frustration and wasted run time. Very glad I upgraded.
