I needed to finally find out what dancing shrimp are. I was NOT disappointed!!! I took a friend there for a birthday dinner. He had the Caesar salad and the scallops. I had the New England clam chowder and the branzino. Everything was delicious but the chowder was transcendent! We shared a slice of banana cream pie. I am always surprised by the fact that a restaurant named Redeye Grill makes such good sushi. Recommend the Pornstar Martini w Prosecco chaser. Service is always good and the ambience is great fun and lively. Always gets our weekends in NYC off to a great start.
Met up with some girlfriends I hadn’t seen for such a long time. The front of house and server was OUTSTANDING! The food and drinks were fabulous, as always! And a thank you so very much to the server who was so entertaining (and patient) with our rowdy group of girls!
We arrived at Redeye Grill a few minutes early for our pre-theater reservation and were seated immediately. Both of us had seafood (salmon for my niece and crab cake with shrimp for me) which was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. The wait staff was congenial and we were served quickly. We'll definitely come back again!
Overall, a great experience due to the service and location. Great choice for after theatre dining. Signature dishes like the sushi burger were excellent, however other fare was just average, certainly good but not memorable. For example my fellow diners ordered the dancing shrimp and really were wowed by the presentation, but flavor wise felt that the dish was just your average coconut shrimp. Was good, but not great. Seating a little close so overheard all conversations from tables on either side.
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Live music was nice to listen to. At one point, they walked around and offered fresh cookies to tables. Drinks, depending on which bartender made your drink, not always full. Food was okay but their famous dancing shrimp were gross and expensive. $66 for basically fried coconut shrimp with different dipping sauces.
