We had a lovely experience. Loved the menu choices. Really loved the freshly baked cookies served from their baking pans. That was a great surprise! We will definitely return.
The ambiance is exceptional, but unfortunately the clientele was practically all tourists with many badly behaved children. The kitchen also appears to be catering to tourists, not New Yorkers who would expect better food, since the restaurant is hardly inexpensive.
Food and service were excellent. Ambiance was lovely even though the place is large. Very convenient to Carnegie Hall and City Center. Definately would recommend. Menu is quite extensive.
The service was top notch from the moment we entered the restaurant. Our meals were delicious -- one perfectly cooked steak, and salmon with the kind of crisp skin you hope for. A great choice for any special occasion.
We hadn't eaten here in several years, but it was as good as we remembered. The service, including the host, bar server, waiter, and bus boy, was friendly and attentive. They were all happy to accommodate and everything was served within an appropriate amount of time. Drinks were exactly what we wanted. My husband really enjoyed the split pea soup and filet. I thought the scallops were very good. I thought that the brussels sprouts were a bit too heavy and salty--after a couple of bites, I couldn't eat any more. The banana c... read more
The food and service are always outstanding and the live music is always very very good
A group of five of us went to the Redeye Grill after a matinee. We arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation and they were able to immediately seat us (thank you). We all went with the Prixe Fixe menu, which unlike many restaurants has a good and wide selection of food. It is also a good value. The food was very good. While I never like smothering service, the service should have been more attentive (service was good when we arrived, but declined as the restaurant got busier - it was a Saturday evening). The wine an... read more
The service was phenomenal, from the host station to the waitstaff. John and Alton were both great. I had an issue with the food. I knew it of course would be expensive, but the meals left something to be desired. I had Dover Sole and my date had Filet Mignon. Both meals were about $50 ea. The sole was dry and essentially flavorless and the filet was not as tender as it should have been. I sincerely have had better filet from Costco. Nice service and ambiance might lead me to giving red-eye second chance because I've heard g... read more
My wife and I went here a couple hours ahead of an exhibition we were attending. Richard the host was incredibly friendly and made everyone coming through the door feel welcome. The wine selection was impressive, even going by the glass; I enjoyed not 1, but *2* types of toscana! The menu was very reasonably priced for a restaurant across from Carnegie Hall. Without exaggeration, I had the best steak frites ever at Redeye Grill! The inside of the meat was tender, the outside perfectly crusted, and the herbed butter was decad... read more
