I went for a girl's nite out dinner and had a wonderful experience. We often get rushed by servers so they can turn over the table but we weren't hassled at all. We had two servers who did a wonderful job of tending to our needs w/o being overbearing. The food was fantastic as it usually is when it comes to a Bartolotta restuarant. Excellent wine list and although the menu is brief, there are enough wonderful options to please. From start to finish we were very pleased and look forward to going back!
This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. I suggest the 4-course Chef's menu for your visit. Don't worry if you don't recognize the ingredients, or are unsure if you'll like them; this chef has talent and he has no problem making a delicious dish every time.
The dining room is a lovely, high-ceilinged space that appears to be a restored neighborhood tavern, with a traditional Italian family-restaurant feel. The ceilings and surfaces make for lots of reflected sound. The service was attentive and very good. We shared a plate of duck ragu w/pappardelle as an appetizer which was amazing! This restaurant is FANTASTIC! I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we had a great time! Services was quick, 2 people per table (granted we were one of 3 groups there; we went late) and the servers were very nice and personable. They chatted with us a bit and were very professional. The service and the food was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Definitely a great place for a date night.
The space is beautiful, the service is exceptional and the food was fantastic! I would highly recommend this place to those that are looking for a wonderful dining experience. It is not a cheap meal but well worth the money you spend.
We were disappointed on this visit, first we arrived for our 5:30 reservations and the front door was locked, Ok, I guess they aren't ready for drinks before dinner. The waiters were good but stumbled on the menu?? Mostly it would have been a enjoyable meal, except they have two portion sizes and the waiter assumed the women in our group wanted the larger one, only when we got the bill did we realize they assumed the larger portion and cost. It seems like a small thing but, it riuned our meal.
Service was not up to the standard you would expect from a first class restaurant. And as with most Bartolotta Group Restaurants to paraphrase an old Seinfeld episode: "They know how to take the reservation they just don't know how to keep the reservation."
We had the coursed meal with the wine pairing. It was phenomenal. I would recommend it to anybody.
