We knew that was going to be temporary, it was too expensive to stay and not enough privacy. I think that it was kind of difficult for her to get help sometimes and get attention when she needed to go to the bathroom. I don't understand why she couldn't have a bedside toilet when she was having such a hard time with incontinence. It really depends on what you are looking for, and we didn't understand that at the time. They do almost no rehabilitation, and that is really what she needed.

The Emeritus at Carrollwood is very nice. They have great food and a nice environment, but only fair communication with family members. They say they are the place of "no hidden fees" but there are plenty of non-disclosed costs, like $100 fee to set up cable, which there seems to be no reason for. Also, I did not think to ask because all the other facilities I saw offered Wi-Fi but the Emeritus has no Wi-Fi and there is no way to get it here. We were upset to not be contacted when our loved one received a new roommate and th... read more

We did not have a good experience with the Colonnade at Carrollwood. My father's admittance into the facility hinged on satisfactory healing of some pressure wounds he had developed on his heels during the course of his rehab stay. In spite of the fact that the Colonnade's representative came to his room at the rehab, placed her own two eyes on the wounds, photographed them and sent them to the corporate office for review, and then told us that he was qualified to be admitted into the Colonnade, they kicked us out 3 days int... read more

Our family endured Brookdale, Carrollwood for one year. Mom fell and was transported to the emergency room three times during her residency. After mom's second fall, rather than to express concern, the Brookdale nurse called me in to state they were going to charge an additional $780 a month for 'other services'. The third time mom fell and was transported to the emergency room, the Brookdale nurse called while mom was in the E.R. She did not call to check up on mom, nor did she extend empathetic support, she called to say t... read more

I’ll tell you what the problem is. They are very short staffed. There are people who have been there for years that get you to come there, but when you get there you find out that they are very short staffed and it’s just not what they make it out to be. So people just end up sitting in a room all day. Our loved one was only there for a very short time. They took twenty-five minutes to assist with the restroom.
