The flavors of the dishes were extremely well executed. Top notch. The ribeye steak and the chicken were delightful. However, both portions of the ribeye were quite fatty--too much so. The salmon was a little dry and not remarkable unlike the other dishes. Soups, salads, and desserts were also very well prepared. Service could have been better with regard to forgetting some orders and wrong portion sizes being served.
We had a very enjoyable evening at the Commodore including delicious drinks, dinner and dessert. We loved the ambiance and the fact that we could hear each other whilst talking which is not always the case in some restaurants now. We look forward to coming back again soon. We definitely would recommend the Commodore to our friends as a place to meet and eat! Thank you for caring about how we feel when we go out for an evening.
Loved it...very interesting..historical and the food was delicious!

Pure joy to be back at The Commodore. It's a St. Paul landmark taking the diner back to the 30's and 40's.
The place is gorgeous, the food is very good and the service was splendid. But it was SO noisy and we were initially seated under a very cold space. The server moved us but I had to keep my heavy wrap on (in August) and we leaned in and yelled at each other over the din of other diners. Not the most intimate dinner.
This is a real St. Paul gem. It's perfect for celebrating special occasions. The food is very good, the service, excellent, and the ambience is unbeatable.
I love this place! Have returned several times. Only problem, it gets very noisy and a loud wedding reception made it even more difficult to have a conversation.
Waiter was excellent
