I had an emergency on the 2nd. My cat whom I've had for years, started to die. Slow breathing, not eating, drinking... clearly in pain. As you could imagine I lost my mind, no-one was open in my area(western MD). My mom had informed me of this emergency vet in Winchester. When my parents arrived Tuesday night, their dog Parfait found and ate almost two cubic inches of rat poison. My wife called our neighbor who recommended Valley Vet and my dad and I took off for Winchester (we live in Martinsburg)! The vets advised us that there are two classes of rat poison, one attacks the central nervous system and the other destroys the circulatory system. I can't believe no one would work with us so they didn't rip a puppy from a child because I couldn't pull $1900 out my pocket to give you... Now my so and I are heart broken because we had to relinquish our family member over to you... I'm a single mother and you wouldn't even try because that money is more important...
Do not patronize this business. They will use your grief and fear for your pet to goad you into expensive treatment, and tell you that if you cant pay-up front ($700 just to diagnose ), then they will put the animal down. All the while, pushing a high interest credit plan to cover the treatment. They use high pressure sales tactics, and show very little compassion. There are many other local vet's, who are much better in price, compassion and knowledge.

We took in our cat with Jaundice on Friday. I felt the cat needed to be euthanized but the vet guilted us into treatment which cost 1700 dollars. The vet felt confident she could recover, they never tried to figure out what caused the liver failure, they couldn't explain why our cat could not balance. I went to our regular vet which determined our cat probably has liver cancer, which they will confirm with an ultrasound Monday. Why didn't Valley do this? Went in yesterday with my dog for a hematoma. They drained it and an hour later it was back. Followed up with a vet who said they dont think they have ever seen the draining work that they should've just done the procedure. So money down the drain. Not happy at all.
