Valentines Day was very disappointing in lots of ways. We try to be mindful of the fact that they were very busy and overwhelmed but for a set menu at $80+ per person and an included 20% gratuity, we expected a lot more. They could have planned it better because everyone’s reservation was delayed and you could tell they tried to pack the restaurant for maximum pax without thinking of spaciousness and comfortability. To start, we were seated 30 minutes late for our 8:30 reservation then it took another half hour for the serve... read more
This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in years. A completely empty restaurant and they demanded my date and I order $25 each (we had only wanted wine, appetizers and desserts) which is fine - I get it, they need to stay in business - but the way they told us, hovering over our table, putting bill in front of us, was so rude and inappropriate. I am a former travel writer at The Times. I’ve never had such a negative restaurant experience in all my travels.
The food and the service was great. But we were seated at an outside table and though it was covered I was cold the whole night. They should be more specific that when you request an indoor table you might still be sat at an outside table table. It was truly disappointing to be cold and uncomfortable the whole night. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this restaurant to eat again after this experience. At least not until it’s warm again.
We arrived for our reservation and were told our table for indoor dining was given to someone else and we would have to sit in the outdoor dining area.
We decided to go despite the reviews.we should have listened! Food was BLAND. My linguini with clams In white wine taste like the water that the spaghetti was boiled In.. We asked for indoor & was still seated outdoors, social distancing was non existent. The prices of the dishes in comparison to the flavors are not up to par! I agree you could have gone anywhere in Manhattan & gotten better food.
Requested indoor dining yet got seated outside! So clearly they do not honor a request. Food was tasteless (braised lamb shank and rissotto )absolutely no flavor! Was not seated 6FT apart even though we are trying to support local business during this pandemic. Not sure I will give them a second chance.
Our first experience was about a year ago, it was nothing special. So we figured, we should give the restaurant another chance, so a group of 4 went this weekend. We had two pasta dishes, the veal dish and the seafood special. They were all Tasteless. The seafood dish tasted old, I could finish it. I won’t be giving the restaurant another chance. Sorry guys.
Food was nothing special. Overpriced and food was mediocre.
Via Trenta was a very disappointing restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone for any occasion. 1. The food and wine are WILDLY overpriced. I have enjoyed better food in nice places in midtown Manhattan, Tribeca and Williamsburg at more reasonable prices than I paid at this Astoria “no tablecloth” restaurant. 2. Staff and management made a serious goof regarding accommodations for a disabled person in my party. One of my guests is an elder person who uses a walker. I messaged the restaurant a week in advance req... read more
