I wanted our experience at Via Trenta to be so much better than it was. When we walked in, I said I had a reservation. They just started pulling tables together to create a space for 5. We sat 2 and 2, with one person (me) at the head of the table. The tables were so close together that the servers kept bumping into all of us. When I made reservations they did tell me that it was a pre-fix menu for Mother’s Day and it wasn’t posted on they website. The prefix menu wasn’t too appealing and they had no food for kids. I had to order things that I did not want to eat and if it was a regular menu I would’ve Ordered way more food. If I wanted mashed potato and escarole, I would’ve stayed home for Mother’s Day. That is a simple thing you can make every day to eat for dinner.
Would not give us warm bread Price too expensive for a set menu Gratuity was added when it should be the Customers opinions on what to leave as a tip. Tooo expensive!!!!!! Poor choices!
Bad food, horrible rude service. Service staff acts like you're inconveniencing them by spending money in their establishment. Too many good restaurants in NY to waste your time and money here.
We had a terrible experience at Via Trenta. We had a large party (11 people) and were the first people there. At the most, there were perhaps two or three other tables in the restaurant over the course of our two hour meal. From the beginning, our waiter (presumably the owner) was impolite and lacking hospitality. This was the worst service I've experienced in NYC. While we were still dining they brought us the bill. We ordered more drinks and were still drinking them and they brought us the bill again and asked us to leave. It was my friend's birthday and we had ordered appetizers, entrees, dessert and several rounds of drinks. This was after they had tried to seat us at a table too small for our group. The food is delicious but the portion is too small. You need to order all the course menu or two entrees to be satisfied. The service is good. The place is small. It's pricey.
Way overpriced for the food and extremely noisy. Having said that, the food was delicious.
