It’s worth the price compared to cheaper versions I can always wish this was cheaper but it’s not. 2 years ago I decided to try a cheaper version to clean my pool. That was not a good decision. I constantly had to get it unclogged, or make sure it was working SEVERAL times a day. Regardless of this cheaper product being cheaper, it wasn’t.This product has been running without one problem since I put it in my pool. I get leaves and other items especially at the beginning of the season. Texas can be pretty strange in the sprin... read more
Cleans Great, Couple Quirks This thing does a great job of cleaning our pool.. mostly. There is a 4' x 6' area or so of our pool that it just won't cover because it falls into a pattern of going around that spot. Not a huge deal, I just brush that area once in a while and the vacuum gets that stuff from other areas. It does fall and get stuck upside down fairly regularly. I've been trying over a couple months to add weights and floats to the hose to prevent that, but it still happens. At least it is very easy to flip it back... read more
Best Value for The Money The G-3 is a great value, especially for those with kidney shaped pools. However, this is definitely not a "perfect" cleaner and has its flaws. With proper hacks and maintenance protocols, it is a very competent device. But those who desire maintenance or tinkering free activity on a weekly basis, pool owners should look elsewhere to robotic "crawl" cleaners that unfortunately exist at higher price point.Pro Tip 1--The suction or difficulty in separating out the cannister seals to empty the filter is... read more
Great value for the money and works great I purchased this because my neighbor has three very large mahogany trees that shed tens of thousands of leaves into my pool. one they remain on the water for for several hours, the sink to the bottom. I took a chance and purchased this as an alternative to a much more expensive robotic cleaner and I'm glad I did. Setting it up was pretty easy, but I had to adjust the valve on my DE filter to reduce the intake from the bottom pickup to about 50% and 50% on the skimmer. I also had to a... read more
Requires Too Much Suction I have previously purchased two Xtremepower (XT) vacuums. The price was right at $100, this one seems by far more expensive, but the XT only lasted one year. It gets stuck a lot and begins to slowly fall a part. It leaves a bunch of plastic pieces in the pool. I thought that it was not too bad to spend a $100 every year, but I thought I give the Zodiac a try. To get comparable results it has to last two years and three years to be ahead of the game. So far it has not had any problems getting stuck, ... read more
Great automatic pool cleaner! Works excellent and lasts a long time at a very reasonable price! I've used 5 different automatic pool cleaners in 22 years and this is the best vacuum for my use by far. It's inexpensive, never gets stuck, climbs the sides, rarely gets clogged, has only one moving part and cleans excellent. I've tried the Zodiac MX-8 and it works really well but it's more expensive than the Barracuda and started having problems after one year because of my sheading gritty pebble tech finish damaging the gear tr... read more
Far better than Kreepy Krawly I purchased a Kreepy Krawly (KK) 7 years ago. I have a 17'x43' lazy L inground with a 9' deep end. It has stainless steel sides & a concrete plaster bottom. Once the KK went into the deep it never left, even with 3 hose weights. It was time to try my luck again on a sub-$500 cleaner. Numerous professional reviews gave the G3 high marks, while one had a caveat that it wasn't intended for Pools deeper than 6'. I took a chance, if it didn't work I'd return it. Setup was straight forward & simple. I... read more
Replaced Old G3 with this New G3 This replaced a much older G3 - finally some key parts such as the ring and the plastic nut that holds the diaphragm tube in place cracked. The new one - it's virtually identical so, if replacing an existing one, it's a good idea to keep the old connection set up that goes into the skimmer so you can assemble it the same way. The instructions can be slightly confusing and if your old one is set up correctly, you can save time using the old one as a guide.Function Notes-a) there is a rubber pl... read more
Replaced a Hayward Navigator The G3 arrived without an owner’s manual, only the “Quick Start Guide”. This was not sufficient to install the unit. I downloaded the owner’s manual at Amazon. This pool cleaner replaced a Hayward Navigator that was worn out. I had my returns pointing to the top of the pool and decided to not follow the instructions to point them downward. The cleaner just kept cleaning in the same pattern at the shallow end of the pool. I broke out the wrench and pointed the flow downwards and the G3 started clea... read more
