We had a great dinner at Akaa. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting — intimate without being overly formal. Food and service was AMAZING! Fun spot for date night!
I brought my wife here for Valentine's Day. Very good place to dine. The music was a bit loud, so it made having a conversation very hard. My esophagus was irritated after leaving because we had to yell to hear one another. The food was great. And our waiter, Troy, was one of a kind. The lady that took our photos was great. Would recommend the AKA San Diego if you don't mind loud music.

I do know that reviewing a restaurant can be quite subjective and what is great to one can be the total opposite to others. This is MY experience at this restaurant. My wife and I were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. Our reservation was a little early (6:00 pm) on a Sunday and the restaurant had very few patrons. Beautifully-designed and decorated restaurant in the heart of the Gaslamp District in San Diego. Street parking is a challenge, but there's a parking garage 1 block away. Service is good, but can be delayed when busy. Pricing is higher than average. Interesting mix of Japanese, Thai and American cuisines. On weekends, after 8p a DJ comes in and it transforms into a nightclub. Standout appetizer: Lollipop Lamb Chops (3). Standout Entree: Miso Black Cod.
